On Our Country 41 Program

Our Vision

Imagine, if you will, it only takes 10

Imagine, if you will, having twelve thousand acres of remote rural land in Central North Queensland, a landowner willing to participate in a new initiative to house, train and give young offenders a better future and for some, a last chance at redemption. And imagine if we designed this program and operated it in several or multiple locations.

Imagine, if you will, using a small portion of that land to build a secure camp to house 20 High-Risk Youth offenders per intake and keep them safe and secure.

Imagine, if you will, on that rural site that we have three or four viable business opportunities to train young offenders in open cut mining for rare earth minerals, land management, quarrying and animal husbandry etc to help them connect or reconnect to Country.

Imagine, if you will, that we have the correct staff with the correct qualifications and from the right demographics to train, mentor, and coach these young offenders on site.

Imagine, if you will, that the after a predetermined time without re-offending is achieved, that this milestone achievement be marked by the incentive of training these young ex-offenders in using heavy/light machinery in one of the 3-4 viable business opportunities.

Imagine, if you will, that after a predetermined period, that we could employ these young ex-offenders on a full-time basis on one of the multiple business operations on site, and help them find accommodation away from dysfunctional family units, because every Australian child has a right to safety and encouragement from significant adults in their lives.

Imagine, if you will, that after a further predetermined time, and after assessing aspirations, we can feed these young ex-offenders into larger projects with the blessing of other Traditional Owner groups under their commercial Indigenous Land Use Agreements terms, and send them on their way in life with qualifications and experience.

Imagine, if you will, that we help these young ex-offenders find long-term accommodation through partners like “Set to Succeed”.

Imagine, if you will, that we could continue to support these young ex-offenders through their journey with Advocacy, Mentoring and Coaching services.

Imagine, if you will, having government funding, and a willingness from all other agencies that have failed to deliver this in the past getting involved, and working together for a more favourable social outcome.

On Our Country 41 Program is not anything that has been done before and will be a long-term sustainable and high impact social outcome for all parties and stakeholders involved.
